At Midday today Worcester Warriors rugby club held a press conference at Sixways Stadium to announce that they have been granted a place in next season's RFU Tier 2 competition.

Worcester Warriors Supporters Trust is proud of our small role in aiding the return of the club that we all love. We believe that all Warriors' supporters have played a part in enabling this to happen. However, today's plaudits must undoubtedly go to the management of the club's operating company Junction 6 Holdings Limited. The owners of Worcester Warriors are not people to blow their own trumpets but they have, without doubt, rescued our club from oblivion. Chief amongst these is, of course, Chris Holland - who will not thank me for naming him; he is not in it for the glory - instead he is at Sixways because he saw a dedicated staff, a dedicated fanbase and an opportunity to expand on the legacy left by Cecil Duckworth CBE. Without his steadying business acumen and a dedication of his own, we would definitely not be in the position we are today. The amazing work by Carol Hart and her staff at the Warriors Community Foundation has also been paramount in keeping the Warriors name alive; their continued success and growth as the club collapsed around them is evidence of the strength of feeling for the club in Worcestershire.

At long last we can stop moaning about administrators, corrupt owners and closing churches. Instead we can speculate on new signings, fixture lists and season tickets. We can go back to being normal rugby supporters again, waking up on a Saturday morning with that "game-day" feeling and pulling on the Blue & Gold.
